Levi’s 501 White, Straight Leg Jean — Button Fly

Levi Strauss put the 501 on the map in 1873. The cut has barely changed since: regular through the thigh, straight from knee to hem, waistband that sits at the waist. No taper. No extra hardware you don’t need.

The button fly is the giveaway. Five pockets, belt loops, copper rivets at the stress points. Wear them with a work shirt, a tee, or boots and they still look like jeans are supposed to look.

Most washes are rigid 100 percent cotton. Some newer lots add a touch of stretch. Either way, they break in and take your shape.

Fit Regular through the thigh. Sits at the waist. Straight leg. About an 11¼-inch front rise, 17½-inch knee, and 16-inch opening on a size 32.

How it differs from the 505 Same straight-leg family. The 501 uses a button fly and a slightly slimmer knee. The 505 uses a zipper and a bit more room through the thigh.
